KLIA check in computer crash!!

Was on the way to Penang this morning taking the 7.35am flight, got to KLIA around 6.50am and long long queue at the domestic check in counter, very unusual. Heard from the PA system that the computer crashed, everyone have to wait till the computer is being fixed before anyone can check in. Wonder what computer they are using, no proper design, where is the clustering system, why is it not design to be highly availably?

That's bring me back to the service level question i was talking about couple of days ago. What if there is a service level clause for KLIA/MAS to have someone checkin and get the boarding pass within 5 minutes of waiting. If not, MAS will be fined of RM10,000 for every minute that someone is waiting. That will teach them a lesson to put in the right investment for IT and prevent this from happening again. Imagine paying fine for hundreds of passanger waiting for check in for more than 30 minutes. That will put a dent in MAS bottom line if computer crash frequently.

One GwaiLo behind me actually notice that a signboard telling the passanger about the computer crash, which is interesting observation, "The computer must crash pretty frequent to have MAS make the signboard properly". Sad isn't it?

Anyway, my DSL provider down, DSL signal not available at home, sitting in Starbuck Taipan to do my office email and catch up on work after a 6 hours trip in Penang. At least 10 notebook connected to TimeZone. Thank you TimeZone. Starbuck coffee with Wifi, what a perfect combination.

Heard from the grapevine that last mile to home will be opening soon to allow other broadband provider to reach TM land line resident, which is a good news, kick some butt to ensure service level improve.

Adios for now. Tomorrow is A1GP in Sepang. Cheers for Malaysia. Malaysia Boleh!!!!!
