Those ambulance chaser bastard

Ever driving druring the rush hour, stuck in traffic and saw an
ambulance in the rear view mirror, ever move the car to the side to
allow it to go ahead, and find out that always, always there will be one
or two bastard following the ambulance closely to beat the traffic.

Yeah, those bastard, they think their time is more valuable than other
people, and not considering the safely of other people, what if they
crash into the back of the ambulance and cause the patient in the
ambulance to die because of the delay in reaching the hospital.

The amazing things is, everytime, I meant 100% of the time, when an
ambulance drove pass, there must be a car also following closely with
the ambulance. There must be a lot of those scumb in KL. Amazing.

Stupid people.

What is nationwide coverage means?

Jaring rollout nationalwide broadband services by claiming to be
nationwide, but after customer complains about the lack of coverage,
then Jaring boss clarify that their services is depends on the
availability of DSLAM port at the customer location.

What value add does Jaring provide then? What is the purpose of
subscribing to Jaring broadband? Most of the time, a customer who can't
get broadband services is due to the short of port on the DSLAM.

It is good that TM allow Jaring to use the DSLAM, but that need to be
planned properly. Seems like it is not.

First 24 hours of my trip to Jakarta

Flown in to JKT 10am Wednesday morning. Quickly pass through the custom
and got a SilverBird to send me to the hotel, previously blasted hotel
in Kuningan. Drop my bag and change to something more biz like and rush
to a company seminar to met up with customer and partners.

Then from then on was work work and work till 2am.

I am still sleepy, and this is the afternoon Thursday. Good news is that
the workshop is going ok, not smooth, but no major problem, touch wood.

Have a plan to go eat and drink with an old friend and then go back
hotel to crash.

Good trip, but wish I have 36 hours a day to sleep.

Saturday at A1GP In Sepang

Finally, A1GP is in Malaysia. Was there this morning at around 11am. The grand stand is completely empty, what happen to all the racing fan in Malaysia? Yeah, this is not F1, but this is A1, better, we have our own team to support, and they are doing extremely well.

Unfortunately it rain at the later part of the qualifying, but still good. Thank you for having it here in Malaysia. IMHO, i think A1 is better than F1.

Tomorrow morning will try to be there early. Where can I get a Malaysian flag, i wonder.

Adios

KLIA check in computer crash!!

Was on the way to Penang this morning taking the 7.35am flight, got to KLIA around 6.50am and long long queue at the domestic check in counter, very unusual. Heard from the PA system that the computer crashed, everyone have to wait till the computer is being fixed before anyone can check in. Wonder what computer they are using, no proper design, where is the clustering system, why is it not design to be highly availably?

That's bring me back to the service level question i was talking about couple of days ago. What if there is a service level clause for KLIA/MAS to have someone checkin and get the boarding pass within 5 minutes of waiting. If not, MAS will be fined of RM10,000 for every minute that someone is waiting. That will teach them a lesson to put in the right investment for IT and prevent this from happening again. Imagine paying fine for hundreds of passanger waiting for check in for more than 30 minutes. That will put a dent in MAS bottom line if computer crash frequently.

One GwaiLo behind me actually notice that a signboard telling the passanger about the computer crash, which is interesting observation, "The computer must crash pretty frequent to have MAS make the signboard properly". Sad isn't it?

Anyway, my DSL provider down, DSL signal not available at home, sitting in Starbuck Taipan to do my office email and catch up on work after a 6 hours trip in Penang. At least 10 notebook connected to TimeZone. Thank you TimeZone. Starbuck coffee with Wifi, what a perfect combination.

Heard from the grapevine that last mile to home will be opening soon to allow other broadband provider to reach TM land line resident, which is a good news, kick some butt to ensure service level improve.

Adios for now. Tomorrow is A1GP in Sepang. Cheers for Malaysia. Malaysia Boleh!!!!!

Any brains in Cyberjaya planning?

Ever drive to Cyberjaya to work or visiting someone there? Notice about
the major shortage of parking? I think that even happens in Putrajaya
which was being explained as in the park-and-ride project was not fully
implemented yet.

Why can't the department who do the planning for Cyberjaya do some work
and develop a building code to ensure that if a building was build to
accommodate X number of employee and visitor, you will need to create Y
number of designated car park within the campus? Obviously there isn't
any of this policy, hence every building was build to maximise the space
in building and put minimum care about external, forcing the employee
and visitor to park at the road side. Well, of cos this will happen,
since the person who decide will have VIP parking within the campus. How
selfish?

Same problem in KL, but I will have to say due to legacy problem. But
still for new building that is being build, I am pretty sure the ratio
of Y/X (car park space over number of occupant in the building) must be
very very small. And I am very very sure that the ratio is not one of
the criteria that is being considered for approving to develop an office
building.

What are all these government department doing? Are they actually doing
work? Yeah, I know it was not being done before, so what? Do something.
Stop being f**king lazy.

Are policemen above the law

Was on my way to office this morning, driving along 9.35am on Sungai
Besi towards Jalan Tun Razak, I saw a traffic police car along side me
in the traffic, with license plate W**46**, guess what I saw, the
driver, in traffic police uniform, talking on the phone without the
hands free kit, and worst still, not using seat belt.

What kind of example are they setting? Do what I say, not what I do?

Bachelor party?

What a weekend. A long time friend of ours finally decided to leave
bachelorhood and getting married on the 10/Dec. Whole bunch of us
decided to throw him a party at the Beach Club.

We started with a nice spicy Sze-Chuan food at Pudu to line our stomach
for the invasion of alcohol, or to have something to puke. :) Red wine,
some Chivas goes down very well with good spicy food, the appetizer was
very good, pig ear, yum yum.

We finally make our way to Beach Club at around 9.30pm. We started of
with 2 nice pubs size (750ml) of Chivas (thanx to Jeff for waiting), and
the party start rolling with good live band playing on the stage. And
plenty of imported foreign worker cari-makan around the floor. Truly
United Nation.

Within 90 minutes, 1.5 litre of Chivas was consumed. Here comes abother
2 more bottle, what a mistake. Well, the future groom starts puking at
around midnight after a round of Flaming Lambogini.

Decided to we are not in the shape to drive, got a room in the nearby
service apartment and crash till the morning, got some good chinese
tim-sum before go home.

What a weekend? Anyone game for another one this weekend? We seems to
have one more un-opened bottle there!!!

Final score, 3x Chivas, 6 packs of Ciggie and one drunk Groom. Mission
Accomplished!!

PS: Saw Jason Lo walking around the floor, seems like he is searching
for something. :)

New cool phone from Nokia

Anyone thinking of getting me a x'mas present? :) Hint Hint Wink Wink

Where is the service level

Ever calling a help desk asking for help in Malaysia? Can be Tmnet,
Tenaga and etc, any company that publish their service desk or help desk
hotline number?

How frustrating is it to be waiting for someone to pick up or being pass
from one to another and repeating ourself on the problem that prompt us
to call.

I think for Malaysia to improve ourself, to be a better Malaysia,
government department need to setup a watchdog unit to first draw up a
service level requirement for all service provider in the entire
country.

For example, calling hotline as above, it should be picked up within 3
rings, or x number of rings, and if the provider breach the service
level, they have to pay the fine.

For example, traffic lights, if the traffic light out of order for more
than 4 hours continuously in weekday or 8 hours in weekend, the company
who provide the maintenance will be fined.

For example, internet service provider, for emails services, access
services and etc.

And many many other example. Maybe reader can provide some comment.

It is so difficult to change the attitute of "tak apa apa", so, why not
have it in the regulation to force it to work, maybe Malaysia will
become another "fine" country like Singapore, but I will rather have it
that way.

Have a nice weekend.

A new day

Seems like this blogs have been dorment for almost 2 years. Reason being
that I am too damn lazy.
